NARUC/NCEP CLIMATE CONFERENCE
The Utility of the Future in a Carbon Constrained World

December 2-4, 2009 • Dallas, Texas

As the issue of climate change becomes a pivotal aspect of global energy policy over the next few decades, new laws and international agreements on carbon emissions will inevitably begin to affect energy utilities. This two-day conference will be devoted to the exploration of a utility sector affected by these carbon imperatives. Organized around the concepts of ‘being there’ and ‘getting there,’ the conference will begin by examining the potential energy landscape in 2030 and then delve in to the possible paths that policymakers and utilities may choose to follow over the next few decades.

Conference participants will include international lawmakers, regulators, industry, non-profits and academics. Panels will explore topics such as game-changing policies, financing energy portfolios of the future and the evolving role of regulators, among others. These panels are designed to engage participants to think about the effect carbon policies may have on business models, market structure, energy supply/demand, and delivery networks in the coming decades: the utility of the future.

This conference is co-sponsored by the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and the National Council on Electricity Policy, a unique collaboration between State energy decision makers.
